Waldorf School at Moraine Farm & Tuition Adjustment in the National News

Jenny Helmick was interviewed by U.S. News & World Report last week for a story on the affordability of a private school education. Throughout the interview, Jenny was able to talk about the new Tuition Adjustment Program. It is wonderful to see this school’s forward-thinking approach to tuition highlighted nationally. It is also wonderful to be reminded about the fundamental ways in which this new program is so firmly rooted in the values and ideals of this school. As U.S. News & World Report notes, “the approach has allowed a more economically diverse student body to attend the school, which the staff sees as a major plus.” Tuition adjustment is a means to help the school fulfill its educational and social mission. Vibrant, inclusive classrooms, where people from different backgrounds work and learn together, benefit every student and the whole school community. We extend our thanks to Jenny for all her work on the Tuition Review Task Force and for generously spending her time working with the reporter at U.S. News & World Report. The Spirit of Community, The Holiday Fair

In just a few days, our school will be transformed for the Annual Holiday Fair. The Holiday Fair Committee has been working tirelessly, and, as always, parents and friends have volunteered so much of their time to this amazing event. From planning meetings, to handwork gatherings, organizing donations, cooking, baking and decorating, it has been a busy season. But a true sense of community spirit carries everyone along. Just a few more days until The Wee Folk Shoppe — the heart of the Holiday Fair — is open, and the Pocket Lady roams the halls. The little ones are ready to gather up the dolls, finger puppets and beeswax candles that have been so carefully made by hand. There are few things more fun to watch than the Pocket Lady surrounded by her enthusiastic followers! “This is a very special time at this school. It is truly inspiring to see everyone give so much of themselves to make the Holiday Fair so magical for our children, our families, and our friends. And it’s wonderful to open our doors to our neighbors and invite them to join in the fun as well.”  — Heather Collis...

Open House Slideshow

A few photos from Saturday’s Moraine Farm Open House.  Vanya Yoors led children and adults in some circus arts activities, getting everyone moving, while Brian Macdonald conducted a few organic chemistry experiments.  That’s pure carbon smoking in the beaker, formed by sulfuric acid being poured over sugar.  Thanks to everyone at Moraine Farm for putting on such a nice event!  Thanks to Jen Benoit for these photos....
